Field of Dreams 1989
Okay, I have seen this movie over 200 times. No joke. I first saw it when it came out on video, in 1989 or 1990 and it spoke to me from the first watch. In the summer of 1994, I made my sister watch it everyday and sometimes we'd watch it, rewind and watch again.
I can't really explain what it is about it that I loved then. Maybe it was the fantasy of being able to right your wrongs…

Life of Crime: 1984-2020 2021
This is a gritty portrait of three people who struggled with addiction for most of their lives. Despite the desire that society has a lot of times to just write people struggling with addiction off as not being worthy of any kind of understanding or compassion, the subjects of this film made it hard not to root for them. Watching them over a period of years just trying to survive was heartbreaking. I was truly saddened by all of their fates and, honestly, I think about them often.
