Não pude deixar de perceber durante todo o filme o tema do incesto. O medo que a governanta tem de que suas crianças perfeitas já tenham visto o sexo. Os empregados (mortos) faziam “o que se faz de noite no meio do dia”. As crianças viram? É insinuado que sim. É o conhecimento do bem e do mal. E ainda é dito que o único modo dos espíritos…

Gosto de tudo nesse filme. Esses rituais com toda uma estrutura me interessam muito. Como chegou nesse ponto? Quantos anos passaram até isso? Sociedades relativamente simples condensam todo um significado nisso. O que ainda resta dessa lógica em nós? Provavelmente jamais saberemos.
