  While the movie faces pacing issues mainly in those first two acts, it still keeps you hooked due to the solid performances of Eiza Gonzalez and Aaron Paul. Stunning visuals and tremendous score are the foundation on which this stands. The story is engaging and thrilling with a great scifi backdrop that intrigues. The world building ia there, visuals are there and performances are there; maybe with a little more dynamism in that first half of the second act would totally shift this into a solid movie. Still I enjoyed quite a lot and would love to see a prequel of sorts.

  The Monkey 2025

  So I didn’t expect this to have as much comedy man and made the experience better. Director Osgood Perkins is quite the master for this genre and makes the most out of the silliness of a monkey. The screenplay isn’t quite solid with a number of predictable plot points and weird character decisions.   Had the pleasure of seeing this after waiting a few months for this and this movie might be on my top 5 of this year. This is a masterfully crafted screenplay doing the whodunnit genre and playing it in a meta whodunit sense.
