Teared up twice while watching this movie. A masterclass in characterization. Never have I felt more empathy for a group of people in my life. A perfect demonstration of the healing powers of the arts.

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) 2014
So different and so fresh.
Some of the best opening and closing credits I've seen. AMAZING cinematography. Michael Keaton is incredible. This is easily his best work from what I've seen. The liquor store scene is an all-timer. And the third act is just a trainwreck in the best way possible. TONS of momentum followed by a very satisfying payoff. Loved how the percussive score demonstrated the rhythm of the movie.

This is my first Bong Joon Ho film and I can confidently say that I very much enjoy his storytelling style.
Memories of Murder begins as a darkly comical buddy cop movie. As the story progresses, it seamlessly transitions into a twisted psychological thriller. One that closely resembles a Villeneuve or a Fincher.
My only complaint is that some parts of the score come off slightly cheesy and even a little outdated.
