Another beautiful entry in the Koker trilogy, a heartfelt intermingling of fact and fiction that makes the best of tragedy
A tense portrait of administrative purgatory in Tehran — minor positions of authority are abused to satisfy base desires for power and control, while ordinary people haplessly suffer the consequences.
Across all nine vignettes, the locked-off POV situates you, the viewer, in the interrogator’s seat, locked in droll, direct conflict with the actors, all of whom deliver wonderful performances.
The central conflict in each scene is the same, a repeat bureaucratic power struggle which begins to feel monotonous. However, the flatlining pettiness serves the greater purpose of mounting frustration, as individual humiliations point to a larger, intractable societal crisis of control.
