  this movie is so unfaithful to the book, but you would have to cast someone even younger to play Lolita and reading the messed up casting stories of Sue Lyon makes me think that you just cant make this book into a movie

  I think I expected so much more from this film, and so while it was a pleasure to watch some wonderful acting performances (Claire Foy and Jessie Buckley the standouts to me), the script really fell flat for me. So much of the argument that the central women discuss is incredibly academic and rooted in a highly stylized jargon and tone that it is jarring to watch.
