Dear Mademoiselle Nicole, You were right and I was wrong... It can be done.

Lubitsch sacrifices some believable story flesh for bigger laughs in Bluebeard's Eighth Wife, but the laughs are totally worth it. Another fascinating role for young Cooper (I'm starting to wonder if Tony Soprano ever caught this or Peter Ibbetson) and Colbert is flawless but there's some wheel spinning along the way.

A 2 to 4 percent solution is the usual dose...
    Make it 50!

Aside from a few cool spider POV shots/sequences (I'm slowly familiarizing myself with Bert Gordon and I cant help but think he's capable of much darker shit), Earth vs. The Spider's repetition and unconvincing cast mainly produce shrugs. It's quick, though.

    This wood... is fake.

Moonstruck's eclectic cast and offbeat but brutally honest examination of love at any age is still refreshing almost 40 years later. Cher and Cage tie this thing together but the film belongs to the older cast members. Love in movies doesn't get much better than Cosmo's moon.

John, I could smell his hair.

The fact that Rae (Kidman) and John (Neil) never really begin to doubt each other over the runtime of this movie, even when things are so clearly screwed, is probably the best thing about this movie. They never would've survived this had they not learned to rely so completely on each other in their grief over their son. Cool concept. Good acting. Goofy 80s ending.
