New World is surprisingly under-seen despite seeming like it’d be an easy sell to a Netflix audience today. That’s where I first stumbled upon in 2013, but in 2025 marketing terms, you’ve now got: Lee Jung-jae from Squid Game, in addition to Choi Min-sik from Oldboy and I Saw The Devil, starring in a different take on The Departed / Succession / a bit of The Godfather, set during the ensuing power struggle for the highest seat in Korea’s largest…

Easily one of the best-looking films in recent memory, gorgeous Pacific Northwest representation. Truly blessed to have two tense understated thrillers released this past year that made me feel like I was watching early True Detective again — the other one being Rebel Ridge.

Leave the World Behind, more like CONFIRMED CANON MR. ROBOT SEASON 5!!? ESMAIL ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Smh this fucking guy. He didn’t have to do it, but he did. The madman.

Shoutout to the guy in our test screening who loudly went “BRUH” after the first scene of Napoleon napounding away at his wife, just golden comedic timing

The war sequences, especially one in particular, are stunning. Feels like 2000s Ridley running the gauntlet one more (or one last) time. Glad they’re releasing this in theaters, keeping it confined to Apple TV would have been a travesty.
