Dial M for Murder 1954
Dial M For Murder
For a film so dialogue heavy, it did not really bore me at all. It was a bit slow moving in the beginning, but I think it set up the premise of the film really well. A History of Violence 2005
A History of Violence
Never been a fan of Cronenberg’s work. I guess Videodrome was decent but everything else fell flat. A common trend I notice is that his films always start off strong, but trails off to an unsatisfying finale. This film especially started well, a well rounded cast and nice world building. However, as soon as the shootout happened the film took a nosedive. Nothing was interesting, its as if the climax happened in the inciting incident. Then again, this is probably Cronenberg’s most normal film, so maybe he’s just out of his area of expertise.

The Fall Guy 2024
The Fall Guy
While Bullet Train is far superior in almost all aspects, The Fall Guy still makes for an enjoyable watch. The main dynamic between the two lead characters are what hold this film together, especially since the chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt is undeniably strong. This also features a really fitting soundtrack with popular music from the past that really embodies the mood of story. However, these standout elements can not make up for the lacklustre plot, one that seems recycled and seen before.

A Taxi Driver 2017
A Taxi Driver
When I watched arguably some hardest to watch films in the Letterboxd community (Come and See or The Pianist), I didn't feel as unsettled as I did when I watched A Taxi Driver. I didn't know much about South Korea's Cold War politics before watching this. Sure, I knew about the Korean War and the disputes between the democratic south and communist north, but the Gwangju Uprising, which is the subject matter of this film, was unheard…
