I'd heard about this being a sad watch, but I wasn't expecting it to be THAT sad. Every single interaction Rob had with people was intensely sobering, and that pig was too damn cute!!! Doesn't hurt that the cinematography rocked either.

Let me preface this by saying this is shot and framed excellently. The score was pretty good, the cast was great, and the vibe was good.

However, those last 20-30 minutes REALLY threw me for a whirl, to the point where it hampered my overall judgement because I totally wasn't prepared for that. I need to watch it again, mainly because I can't tell if the film itself doesn't work for me or my own expectations got in the way.…

    Beautiful.

I went into this almost completely blind aside from knowing it started Dafoe as Van Gogh, so seeing Oscar & Mads was a nice welcome surprise. The score does SUCH a good job of communicating just why Vincent admired this world so much, and the cinematography captures the general feeling of a panic attack and his psychological demons so, so painfully well.

The last 10-20 minutes absolutely fucking destroyed me; easily one of my most emotional watches of the week.

So.......fourth or fifth rewatch since March 5, 2022. Yes, even I'm a little worried 😅.

Lemme just say right off the bat (heehee) that I do feel like some of the stuff with the Waynes feels slightly rushed, and I would've liked to see more of Dano's delightfully unhinged Riddler.

With all that said, it's still just as good as the first time I saw it in theaters. Fraser's cinematography, Reeves' emotional direction, Rob's tormented Batman, Giacchino's BTAS-esque score.....it's delightfully…
