on a technical level, this movie is so all over the place (bad editing and mixing, boring camerawork, vanilla performances and clunky dialogue) and had the potential to be even more of a masterpiece if in the hands of a better director
that said, the soundtrack and score by quincy jones is so iconic and the world he was able to create that speaks to highly to black culture and the black experience, the zeitgeist that this is for the black household makes it deserving of a watch for anyone
