First Man 2018
Well crafted biopic of Neil Armstrong, a man who it turns out I did not know much about. Several major historical events covered here I was not familiar with at all. Chazelle does a good job capturing the desperation the U.S felt trying to play catch up with the Soviets.
Great score brings it all together. Could be a tad bit shorter but definitely one of the better biopics I’ve seen.
Science fiction is my favorite genre but sci-nonfi is pretty cool too!Translated from by -
Dunkirk 2017
All the other Nolan films I’ve seen have kept me on the edge of my seat, glued to what it’s in front of me but this just felt.. dull? Boring?
I like the score and I probably would have better thoughts if I was able to see it in theaters but I come away pretty disappointed
There was also like absolutely no character development and none of the characters are memorable in the slightestTranslated from by

La La Land 2016
I really don’t understand why this is seen as one of the greats. It is beyond corny and so many clear fuckups with lip syncing terribly off, a number of unresolved things, and generally a dull as well as predictable plot. Gosling is good (as he is always), without him this is probably a one star but you can only do so much with what you’re given. Found myself waiting for this to end. Without Ryan gosling and Emma stone this would be forgotten. In no way do I found this “deep” or thought-provoking at all
