  Watched this because the idea of a satire about posh European teenagers starving themselves and complaining about climate change sounded like just what I needed after this year’s holiday feasts. Turns out there wasn’t much to chew on here. 

  I hate the phrase “empty formalism,” but it really applies here. Hausner desperately wants to pull a Haneke/Lanthimos hybrid (and the deadpan, detached social commentary is strong in the film’s first half), but she quickly gets lost in her own torpid dialogue and static wide-shots. Really wanted to love this, but damn let me have some fun while the world falls apart.
