What a beautiful movie. Robin Williams and Matt Damon are so good. Danny Elfman’s score is so fantastic.
Beautiful movie, transported to the northern Italian countryside of the 1980s. The light in the movie is beautiful, the way it seeps into Oliver’s hair and shines off Elio’s overly-oiled rib cage. Michael Stuhlberg (?) stands out so well as a wise father. Elio’s mom is awesome. There’s a moka pot at some point, hell yeah.
If you think this film is about love, you’re wrong! It’s infatuation, conjuring the image you want to see of another and being willing…
A most pleasing experience. Willem Dafoe is awesome. Lily Rose-Depp has an incredible amount of sauce. If I had to guess the sauce would be a fragrant marinara, with lots of basil.
Only complaint is that when I saw this in the theater, some guy kept cheering for count Orlok anytime he showed up on screen. I cannot blame him.
Skarsgard was good, but there should’ve been at least one basketball scene where he does the Jordan pump-fake while palming the ball. Not including this damages the historical integrity of Transylvania in the mid-19th century, which had an incredibly vibrant Culture of Ball.
Haven’t seen in years. Will never forget watching this with my friend Danny, and the awe that we felt.
Beautiful movie that takes you through the modern history of music through the generations of a European-Jewish lineage. The tunes in this movie are banging, the animation booming, the colors popping. Classical piano and tuxedos give way to double stop guitar riffs and acid, jazz and heroin, fame and loneliness.
Great movie. The only complaint I have is that the main characters were not some sort of monkey or primate… if only there were a film out there to satiate this sweet desire of mine…
