A real movie’s movie. Everything about it was really well done. It makes sense why people who louie this genre of movie love this particular movie, I just thought it was a little slow. Jack was a little too enthusiastic all the time too- he didn’t seem very genuine/grounded, which you would expect with his background.
The scene with the frozen sea of corpses was genuinely chilling. It’s an aspect of the sinking I’d never considered.
Watching this movie undid a lot of the good press Dr. Zaius receives from Stop the Planet of the Apes: I Want to Get Off! He doesn’t seem to be much of a doctor after all.
I was surprised at the moral complexity of his character though. Older films tend to be more black and white (no pun intended) in how they portray their antagonists, but the closer we got to the final reveal the more and more I understood…
Can’t believe it took me this long to watch, but it was an absolute knockout. I kind of want to watch it again this weekend ngl
