  I woke up this morning to tears of joy. 90 prisoners released from occupation prisons. Clear skies over Gaza after 470 days of genocide. And I wondered why I couldn’t just feel pure relief.

  This film unfolds like a dream sequence, then a nightmare. Present and past enfolded into one terrible singularity, constantly turned over, constantly lived through.

  A righteous bookend to this day, a nighttime screening at TIFF, a reflection of this unending shift…

  Set aside a day and spend it with this masterpiece. It must be the most stunning film I’ve ever seen — what a true feat.

  The care that went into every detail is incredible, a massive collaboration only the Soviets could pull off. My jaw was on the floor the entire third part. I just know I’ll be thinking about this film for weeks.

  The scope of this film can scale down from the most immense, eternal into the most intimate, specific in moments.
