yet another one of bong joon-ho’s masterful social commentaries. one that reinvents themes from his previous works to capture both the interests and current political landscape of an american audience. filled with SO MANY jaw-dropping moments, from the twisted challengers-esque scene to the on-the-nose nature of mark ruffalo’s character, not to mention my favorite needle drop (twilight by elliot smith) that i genuinely thought i was making up in my head. definitely a film with LOTS to unpack, much of which i will continue to ponder for the foreseeable future.
