  Much sillier than I expected

  Erich von Stroheim's performance and Gloria Swanson's Chaplin impression touched me the most

  Also Buster Keaton sitting silently at the card table was so breathtaking somehow

  Funny and unexpected how there's hints of The Apartment in this: Sheldrake and the threat of suicide and cheating sweet jagged young women
  I think those topics are explored better in The Apartment

  "The best"!!!

  Just lovely! So much fun and care

  Adore all the close-ups and the largely relatively slow pacing, and use of moments without dialogue
  Great casting, costuming

  That kiss in the tunnel as the train went by...

  Love the idea of starting your documentary by just asking random people on the street what they know about your topic - especially when that's just as likely to get you info as a reference library, bc of how under-documented your topic is.

  So many fun and distinct characters!
