Lovely lovely food film. So much beautiful food

This touched me by the end, but my god the dialogue is bad. So laboured, unnatural, rushed.

Feels like every line was written to serve the plot, but only to serve one. No nuance, no subplot, no humanity. 

Maybe his English just isn’t good enough? 

The colours were nice, the subjects of a class that just doesn’t exist, or are at least very much alienated from the viewer. The upper middle class, successful, rich, tasteful, moral, interesting job but still a New York penthouse. 

Julianne Moore is something else though.

came out of this one wanting to watch it again immediately, even though it’s 3 hours long. Super understated soundtrack - it’s actually so good, i’ve listened to it all the way through twice since watching it last night (it’s only midday now). Yeah it’s long and maybe i’m biased bc i love uncle vanya & waiting for godot but honestly i didn’t want it to end until it did. Some incredibly beautiful cinematic shots too. missing half a star bc i lost focus just once or twice (prob the run time) but honestly it’s pretty flawless

Bergman is so fucking good. His versatility is unmatched, surely.
