Love, love, love. I love Sean’s voice in this film. I appreciate when I can tell when a director is so tethered to the story and experience of their film that it makes it such a unique experience. This is what independent cinema can look like and what we need in storytelling, especially with the Marvels of the world. Sometimes we just need a coming of age, awkward, time capsule to break through to remind us of those moments of growing up in the 2000s.

Gladiator II 2024
It’s basically Gladiator; with a bigger budget, updated VFX and a hell of a performance from Denzel. I fell asleep several times. So, there’s that. Not impressed, but it’s for the male gaze. Let’s talk about that.

Okay, okay. My rating is only low because I honestly feel like there were moments that dragged. I love the concept and the originality of the screenplay. To say Demi’s performance is incredible, is to say the least. Her vulnerability on screen with her body is INCREDIBLE. I could never. But even more so, allowing the ugliness of wanting to be beautiful is what I remember most of this cinematic experience. Shoutout to the filmmakers who held onto their vision. It shines through in multiple departments: cinematography, editorial, music.
