Palm Springs 2020
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This film is actually smarter than it seems. Happy Old Year 2019
I feel a personal connection to this film as a hoarder. There is a meaning attached to every object I own. Consequently, Happy Old Year tells us the toxicity of holding on to these objects and how it represses our growth.

There was also barely any dialogue between…

It's a "straight-bait" film and I love it. It's what Ocean Waves of Studio Ghibli could've been.
The film opens with Meng Kerou and her best friend, Lin Yuezhen, playfully trying to "see" their future but Kerou can't see a thing. This opening perfectly sets up the teenage characters' struggles with the uncertainties of sexuality, relationships, and their future.
The teenagers in Blue Gate Crossing are actually written like teenagers; they are naive, awkward, dramatic, and confused. This immaturity led…
