An interesting illustration of grief. As someone who has recently lost a parent, I can really relate to the need for homecoming in order to process death. David’s reaction to death makes me so sad - almost despairing because it feels like a denial of something so real. He chooses control over emotion. This is now at the top of my list of favorite rom coms. It perfectly captures the absolute madness that is being young and in love. Like every stage from the infatuation, puppy love, breakup, depression, anger, and desperation. Genuinely fascinating how this movie could capture this in a way that I can genuinely relate to. Also extra points for being set in Seattle!! Love it! Highly recommend!
