“A boat straightens its course when it gets to a bridge.”

Prepare to be hypnotized by the daily operations of a Chinese restaurant in NYC, and a delivery immigrant man working hard to reach a big goal in a day. Watch him have hope and give up at the same time. The way this was filmed makes you feel like you were there observing from afar.

The importance of strong and supportive communities.

Sean Baker once again bringing the real struggles to the screen—loved the partnership here with Tsou Shih-Ching.

Officially a fan of the stories Kelly O’Sullivan writes and brings to the screen.

Ghostlight was such a big film for me, and now after watching this I can see the quality of these depictions of issues, the navigation of it, and the growth. 😇

    Sundance 2025 #5:

This was one of the most real films I’ve seen. Portraying a story and family situations that are so common.  The love, support, and scolding of a Latina mom is unique.

    Eight film at Sundance’24!

I believe this has been my favorite, maybe? I cried from beginning to end. A story about a family experiencing loss, going through grief and readjusting their life without losing their values. It was beautifully made. Glad that the Paynes (subjects) opened up to share their story with us and inspire us with their strength and hearts.
