An outstanding musical expressed with pure human emotion, fulfilled characteristics and Michel Legrand's timeless score. It is remarkable how romanticism and realism are bonded in this movie, without making it any less romantic or any less realistic.
Probably the best musical I have watched in my life.

There was a huge attachment between camera, storyline and music in this movie. A phrase would start, and be finished by the end of another musical phrase, both moving in a parallel way. You had to follow the camera until the end of a phrase: whether it was a poem by Walt Whitman, or a visual phrase, or a musical one. All would end at the same time with each other, creating a special harmony.
It was like modern poetry.…
