no complexity in the characters, but in the end pretty intense interesting visual elements.

    A Hard Core of Beauty

The struggles of adapting to life in a foreign country, bureaucracy stripping away identity, the feeling of being lost and losing, a number replacing a name, refugee camps, endless lines… and a love so raw, it’s beautiful in its ruin.

A few days ago, I watched another film, and now I remember a little song I heard there:

    “You’ll learn our language,
    you’ll eat our food
    You’ll get no domo arigato,
    bet you didn’t think…

I thought this film was beautiful when I was 19, and I still find it beautiful now.

Want to see these faces and hear this language in person.

I will join the smaller group of people and not share the hate toward this film.
It’s quite a simple, philosophical fairy tale that feels more like a visual meditation, keep reminding us of fundamental truths about love, capitalism, and where all of this is leading us. I wasn’t particularly like the actress chosen for the leading role — I wanted to look at her, but I didn’t feel the urge to learn who she was, what her past was, or why she was here.
