A metaphorical critique of our society and its norms. Points out the absurdity of the human existence we have constructed and imprisoned ourselves in. It tackles many themes, philosophical, sociological and psychological, all whilst encorporating the art of cinematography and costume design. The main character’s growth reminds me of Flowers for Algernon. This movie will definitely not be everyone’s cup of tea.

I Used to Be Funny 2023
I appreciate this accurate reprensation of how trauma affects various aspects of one’s life, from the ability to function in meeting basic human needs, to interpersonnal relationships.
(Bonus points: Canadian production, and Adrianne Lenker on the soundtrack!)Translated from by
