The Wisdom of Trauma 2021
When a documentary opens and closes with images of babies or old people smiling to the camera, you know some emotional mambo jambo has just played. Some ideas from dr Gabor Mate are important, but the deterministic way he attributes disease solely to trauma commodifies it and it’s simply not following the scientific method. The documentary works well as a promotion tool for the Dr to sell his own books. A badly executed work of fiction.

Three Thousand Years of Longing 2022
Idris Alba and Tilda Swinton make this unusual and fantastic movie one-of -a-kind. I wonder which messages come across to different people. I like suggestion of being open to magic and the unexpected, but not so much the idea that the strong and educated lady is deep down lonely and expecting some magical love that she can’t admit to.
