I didn’t realize this was a harem anime until partway in haha, but by then, I’d gotten hooked. It was funny and definitely more meant to be laughed at and enjoyed than meant for any great lessons or mind-blowing plot lines.
Still, I found myself enjoying it despite its flaws. It’s only worth 2.5 stars, but since I enjoyed it nonetheless, it gets rounded up to three stars rather than rounded down to two.
This was a cool anime to watch! Unfortunately, it’s not finished yet, so I have a lot of questions about it that won’t be answered for a bit.
Fun fact: I am horrible at figuring out and remembering Chinese names. By the end, I could remember Lu Guang and Captain Xiao. As for the other important characters, I just call them Landlady and Nico. And yes, I call him Nico because let’s be honest, the dark-haired photo-traveler is a lot…

There were some cute moments of dialogue and the animation was great, but it fell flat in just about every other way.
Adrien, for example, is portrayed as a broken-hearted guy who doesn’t want to get close to anyone who could hurt him. Normally avoiding connection like that would make sense and would make for an interesting character, but it directly contradicts all the best parts of Adrien’s optimism in the original series and came off as a tad too…
I read Corrie Ten Boom’s The Hiding Place multiple times since discovering it in middle school, and I’m so glad this new adaptation did it justice! A lot of thought and feeling went into this adaptation, and that was conveyed to the audience.
