Shutter Island 2010
Truly haunting. The film makes you go mad with the main character. Or maybe you stay sane with the main character. It really makes you think about the powers of the mind and the ability to deceive. “Is it better to live as a monster or die as a good man?” This film forces me consider the nuances of humanity. Is there such a thing as a monster? Is there such a thing as a good man? A beautiful and heartbreaking film that requires reflection.

Border 2018
This is splendidly odd film. (Slight spoilers to come, proceed with caution). The movie makes a very odd relationship, one between two trolls, seem beautifully mundane. The settings are gorgeous. Be warned the movie has a slow pace, which I enjoyed as it felt like everyday life, but it could be seen as a bit boring. Though the characters are fantasy, they felt very real. The movie also questions the motives of morality, which leaves the viewer to ponder. Would recommend for a patient audience!
