Das Erschreckendste von allem ist, dass dieses hier sehr authentisch wiedergegebene kalte Spießbürgertum die deutschen Häuser und Vorgärten nie verlassen hat. Viele Bilder erinnern an unsere eigene Nachbarschaft und Kindheit.
Erschreckend ist auch, wie wenig schockiert man über das Gezeigte, oder eben Nicht-Gezeigte sein kann. Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass es in Deutschland eine starke Erinnerungskultur gibt und wir wiederkehrend mit Themen und Bildern konfrontiert werden, die dieses Grauen zurecht unvergesslich machen.

A very good production of a supposedly unfilmable epic. The costumes, production design and sets are very well coordinated. In contrast to many other fantasy productions, everything seems credible and not cheap and embarrassing. Anyone who likes fantasy will love these films.
