Was not expecting to cry three separate times during this film, I loved it so much
I was looking for something to pick me up out of a slump and this sure did the trick. Although some parts of Billy Elliot haven’t aged well at all, the overall message and themes still hold true. It’s all at once shocking, funny, tense, heartwarming, and inspiring.

A film that feels like it thinks it’s cleverer than it is stuffing base-level social commentary in an artsy package.
The actually decent cast and pretty cinematography do a good job of convincing you MAYBE the next vaguely dystopian plot point is about to lead somewhere or explain literally anything…and then it doesn’t.
This goes on right until the credits roll, and now Friends makes me irrationally angry.
