Beast is a fun, tense and well-executed foray into the creature feature/survivalist subgenre and will probably slip through the cracks of summer-release cinema and be forgotten amongst all of the other 'animals run wild' films out there.
The cinematography is what elevates the film so much; using long, smooth tracking shots for much of the initial build up as Idris's gentle, emotionally-distant-but-wants-to-be-better father brings his two daughters (both struggling to reconnect with him after their mother's death) on a family…
