American Fiction 2023
Had this movie on my watchlist for such a long time! Very interesting commentary on the topic of race in America today. Somehow pulls off an appropriate critique of woke culture, while also commenting on our own consumption of media and entertainment. The movie had many narrative layers that make you question what is the true “fiction” in the storyline. Great directive choices as well!

Very well produced film. Great acting and cinematography / motifs and storytelling. Was it enjoyable to watch? For those elements yes… but not so much for the plot which *spoiler* is entirely about a very toxic relationship that never redeems itself. I do think the movie also presents femininity & the challenges of being a woman in that time (and still today) through Priscilla’s story in an authentic and eye opening way. Worthwhile watch but more for cinematography aspect! No need to make popcorn.
