  Although it's in favor of making the movie have greater stakes and make it more engaging (which it accomplishes fully), I feel like it gets the musical aspect of the film wrong, treating it almost as a sport with its bloody and sweaty practices/performances and toxic competition with "first chair trumpets" and stuff. There's only one moment when Neiman seems to be enjoying music, and it's when he's watching Buddy Rich clips on his phone, the rest of the time…
