Never thought I’d be so invested in a robot’s feelings. The animated films of this year’s Oscars are kicking the asses of the films in the Best Picture category. Petition to reduce the inclusion of human characters in future films. Also why was this funnier than most movie comedies with people in it and I LOVED the dark comedy moments like when Roz jokes about motherhood making simple tasks difficult, damaging her, and voiding her warranty.

Nickel Boys 2024
Story and themes are very important. The execution was just not there for me. I really was not a fan of the cinematography or the choice to have the entire film shot as snippets from the main characters’ POV. It made me feel as if I was watching nothing at times and made what conceptually is a sad and powerful story as boring. Might have just been too artsy of a film for me.

Room 2015
This movie was great but a really tough watch. Despite how dark it is, there are heart-wrenching moments of optimism. Brie Larson 100% deserved to win the Oscar for this and Jacob Tremblay was outstanding. Highly recommend and then you probably won’t be able to watch it again.
