Annihilation is a film that mauls you with a hammer labeled "metaphor" yet somehow leaves people questioning what it's about - do people stop paying attention when a text tells you that it wants to talk about self destruction? Does that thought become discarded as soon as it hits, are people too afraid to think or talk about it?
As someone who both suffers from self-destructive tendencies and from chronic illness, this is an incredibly cathartic film on that theme…

Casino Royale 1967
Honestly? Slightly better than it's contemporary Bond films from Eon Productions. This one came up during my bond-a-thon, and the change of style, writing (if you could call it that), and it actually has a plot that managed to engage me were all welcome changes. The sets and props were all a bit haphazard, though - it feels like they just bought out a 2nd hand store, and tried using as much of it as they could.
