SABDHAM has a good idea, but it's so muddled in its execution that the resulting outcome is incredibly boring and severely underwhelming. The first half builds up in a slightly dull manner but promises an intriguing tale nonetheless. But once the second half arrives, the film steadily falls downhill. ★★

CYPHER is visually interesting but narratively muddled. It's so busy in hyping its own smartness that it never pauses to realise how boneheaded it actually is. After a time, it piles up one twist after another so quickly that every things start to fall apart. By the time it reaches in its third act, everything turns so uninteresting that you don't even care; you just want it to end quickly.

THE HEROIC TRIO is a film about badass women doing badass things in a story that's filled with an invisibilty cloak, kidnapped babies, a methane-breathing subterranean cult that wants an emperor for China, a powerful sorcerer, a body controlling skeleton, and so much more. It's a bizarre yet wonderful mix of kung-fu, sci-fi and fantasy. This was my first foray into the filmography of Johnnie To, and I am eagerly looking forward to watch more movies directed by him.
