I worried this film, which I quoted incessantly as a child, wouldn’t meet my expectations on a rewatch. And I was right…it surpassed them! The lines I used to quote weren’t even the best ones! Funny throughout. Damon Wayans is a hoot!
Is it just me, or are monsters all starting to look pretty much the same? Also, I enjoyed the cameo by the nail from Home Alone.
This movie left me with a lot of thoughts and feelings. Most of what I’ve read about the message and meaning do not touch on what my strongest impressions were, namely how the 16-year-old girl was exploited and objectified throughout the film (and seemingly by the film-maker). All women in the film were. And it didn’t matter if they were in the industrialized Western civilization or in the “pure and innocent” natural environment, there were still expectations and obligations put…
