On the Road 2012
After catching the wrong ferry and missing a screening of Moonrise Kingdom, I ended up hitting the cinema in great time for "On the Road". If fate is a thing, this was it - I'd started reading the book that very day.
Fans of the book will immediately start counting dissimilarities - Sal lives with his French speaking mother in NYC, not his aunt. Marylou is played by the very brunette Kirsten Stewart, and her character is generally less golden…

The Dish & the Spoon 2011
Gerwig is getting a lot of attention lately, though I'm getting a bit bored of her. All her characters blend in to one kind of annoying, incapable, not-my-fault, twenty something white girl.
This film had enough randomness to keep me entertained, it's visually quite appealing too. Particularly enjoyed Olly Alexander, who I've never seen on screen before, but who's character in this film reflects a few people I've had the fortune to meet.
All in all, better than I thought it would be.
