  okay I feel like I always shit on this one, and maybe I just thought this this rewatch because I am still recovering from the atrocious 1952 film, but this one honestly isn’t that bad.

  this one is Weird because it really only focuses on Valjean which I kind of understand because there’s approximately 70 million characters and Valjean is the protagonist, but ultimately that just doesn’t work because that’s not Hugo’s style of storytelling and obviously you lose SO MUCH depth  when all we really see is Valjean moving from place to place 
  (the pacing is also just so Wack — it’s interesting to see the pacing in any adaptation that came out before…
