Despite the death and despair, many thrived during WW2. Many lived normal lives, completely detached from the horrors of war. Raising your kids, getting a promotion at work, or arguing with your spouse. It’s hard to comprehend what life would be like with such chaos raging around you. However, humans are quick to adapt to their new reality. For better or for worse.
Suffering is not distributed equally. 20% of the population of Poland died during WW2. Rather than each family losing a person, entire bloodlines and surnames were wiped from the earth. Other families were left untouched.
Ignorance is bliss. Bureaucracies march forward. Groupthink prevails.
