    Reflection in a Dead Diamond

    Alright. Even though Let the Corpses Tan was great, the artistic direction clearly overshadowed the narrative. THIS, on the other hand, was PHENOMENAL. Style and substance harmonized from start to finish. Not a dull sequence, scene, shot, or cut here. Too many memorable bits to mention.

    Hélène Cattet and Bruno Foranzi are forces to be reckoned with, Manuel Dacosse is up there with Blaschke, and this is one of my favorite movies about movies ever made, and that’s a contested niche FOR SURE.

    I aspire to make something as exciting as this.

    Wish I saw this on the silver screen, but at long last I’m tapping into Tarkovsky. 

    Won’t get into the philosophy of the narrative. Still need to mull it over. But God Damn that’s some of the filthiest photography I’ve ever seen. Rerberg’s camera glides with such grace, steady surveying. Mad solemn. Harrowing sound and production designs aswell.

    Rewinded two shots: the first was the slow pan in The City, moving left to right, from the alleyway to the broken…

    BRO. How I JUST came across this is a mystery to me. Willy Friedkin at his coldest. The opening vignettes are SO tough, the production’s astounding; the Tangerine Dream score’s spellbinding; and rhe ending is perfect. Proper storytelling, from the top.

    Blow-Up aside, this has been my favorite watch of the summer.
