I went in expecting *The Apprentice* to be little more than a curiosity piece, but what I got was something far more compelling. Despite the Stath’s reliably strong presence, The Beekeeper falls disappointingly flat under Ayer’s uninspired direction. The film wastes its intriguing premise with a bland execution, hindered further by forgettable supporting performances and an insipid score that drains any sense of suspense. While the action delivers occasional thrills, it’s not enough to elevate what could have been a sharp, stylish revenge thriller. Watchable, but far from memorable.
One of those films you can only evaluate once it’s brewed for a while: it’s a terrible film, but is it? Certainly, I’ll never forget watching it. Like others, I have no idea what I watched.
It’s a film with so much noise: from the nazi clothed mutant growling, to the cat meowing, to the horse neighing, to the woman screaming. And, repeat. And, again. Oh, how about ten more times just for the fun of it?
