Quite frankly, I usually struggle to fully understand the underlying message in David Lynch's films, which one might argue is the whole point of Lynch's style. However, in this early piece, one is offered a fairly straight forward plot, whilst predominantly the cut scenes have more of a 'Lynch-esque' feel to them. Most strikingly John's dream delivers what Lynch has been so known for.
