Pushpa 2 - The Rule 2024
sukumar, a math professor turned filmmaker, always makes his movies based on a character, not a story. the character is the story, their feelings and motivations are the plot. and this was the output of sukumar’s capabilities as a commercial director who dives deep into his characterization of pushpa after his rise. everything worked for me, pleasantly surprised with the engaging screenplay despite the looooong ass run time

not a bad film, but had potential to be so much better. some beautiful scenes, brilliant acting, an interesting plot line and some world building that could’ve been more nuanced and less predictable. another film that suffers from the sequel problem. it doesn’t need a sequel, they should’ve finished the story in this movie. anirudh did his best and saves a lot of moments. the first half has a near perfect screenplay which sets you up for a disappointing pre-climax…
