    Doona!

    ★★★★★

It has toppled the likes of Our Beloved Summer, CLOY & HCCC to become my favourite Kdrama. It’s not a lighthearted watch, Doona will consume you and probably destroy you a little in its wake. 9 episodes keep us yearning for more but it also doesn’t drag. The introduction of the character Choi Ira halfway through the show was unnecessary because the character was annoying and cringe. Probably the director tried to make it more mainstream and like other Kdramas. Besides that one low point, this show is perfection, will be loved by those who like complex romances.

Think Barbie but with bloodshed. In fact this is what Barbie should have been because revolution comes from the barrel of a gun, not from monologues. This film made me feel so many things, but above all, it gave me validation. The antagonist calls the heroine beep boop, a name of endearment, it reminded me of Ibsen’s play A Doll’s House where Nora’s husband Torvald calls her similar patronising names.
Oh and men are gonna hate this one.

    Nosferatu

    ★★★★

Nosferatu is a story of white collar labour exploitation and a man unable to say NO to his boss and his client, when promised a promotion, even when it puts him in precarious circumstances.
It’s also a classic tale of man ignoring woman to follow his ambitions and later blame her by saying ‘I did it for US baby’.

It’s equal parts magnificent and fucked up. I don’t know if corporate thriller is a genre but it should be, Fair Play shows us why. I was both stressed out and enamoured. Will be following the writer/director Chloe Dormont’s next projects.
