It’s as if Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, Deep Rising, Van Helsing) collaborated with John Carpenter (The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, Starman) on a pulp story straight out of Weird Tales (Lovecraft, Seabury Quinn, Clark Ashton Smith) and I mean that as a high compliment. Went in cold, didn’t know anything about it and I had a blast. It’s not a serious movie but it knows that. It’s a B movie with A entertainment. Sometimes you just want something fun. This was that.
