mixed opinion. the references to kubrick were distracting, i shook my head at the bernard herrmann needle drop, and the end sequence was like brian de palma's carrie if she deserved it. i thought about the elephant man and how that film treated his body with dignity even when the characters didn't, and in the substance "monstro" is given forced subtitles even though it's clear what she's saying. more fat bastard or nutty professor than anything.
