I don't like critiquing child actors but the main character is so wooden that she feels like a background character in her own story. They were kind of setting her up for failure alongside great performers like Brendan Fraser, Paul Bettany, Andy Serkis, and Helen Mirren though. Overall it was a cozy little movie that was perfectly charming and inoffensive.
Also: long-haired Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly as a couple?? I'm on my hands and knees begging for mercy.
