Shock or standard? Homicide or horticulture? Depends if you’re a pagan or a priest…
The showcasing of pagan culture and its perception by a Christian protagonist and by extension audience (predominantly), really adds to the shock and heinous nature of the crime, leading us to only feel sympathy for Howie at the end.

Despite not being able to speak French, the emotion in this film was so clear and it superbly translated from the screen to myself; I could physically feel my heart pulsing at the final shot. Poor guys..
